Hillel at the Wolfond Centre for Jewish Campus Life, University of Toronto, is teeming with excitement and activity. Hillel prioritizes actively engaging diverse Jewish students and meeting them where they are at. Hillel has no membership requirements - all Jewish students are welcome to take part in the aspects of Jewish campus life that meet their needs and interests.

Our program offers a diverse range of educational, social, cultural, intellectual and religious initiatives. Students are stimulated Jewishly through cross-denominational learning programs with the purpose of increasing Jewish awareness and achieving a level of mutual understanding between Reform, Conservative and Orthodox, and unaffililated students. As well, programs and initiatives take place that deal with contemporary moral issues and celebrate Jewish holidays. And lets not forget the parties and other amazing social events that bring Jewish students together just to have a great time.

We are committed to creating and sustaining a space that allows students to grow Jewishly on their own terms. Next year promises to be even bigger and better than last. A year of excitement as we prepare to make a mark on campus in our new surroundings.

Student Leadership: Student Coordinating Committee, the Community Council

The Student Coordinating Committee is the central organizational body of Hillel. It is comprised of six members, meeting biweekly, who, along with the staff, are responsible for overseeing the entire Hillel program, developing the leadership of and liasing with the many Jewish student groups on campus, and acting as the communicative body between the Jewish campus community and others.

This group is not an executive, responsible for the Jewish groups on campus, rather it is a facilitative body helping to promote Jewish campus activity generally.

The Community Council is Hillel’s guiding body. It is composed of representatives from the many Jewish groups on campus, the members of the student coordinating committee, and other Jewish community members. It meets monthly to discuss issues of importance to the entire Jewish campus communities. It also serves as a forum of dialogue for the Jewish campus groups to help coordinate and comment on their programming as well as review budgetary matters. Members of the Community Council develop their leadership and programming skills by participation in regional and local conferences and programs.

Numerous students leaders have participated in Hillel of Greater Toronto's Jewish Leadership Development Program. Find out more about that program by clicking here.
