Bar Mitzvah Bash

Written by Brittany Lepofsky, Student

On Saturday March 5, Queen’s Hillel hosted our annual Bar Mitzvah Bash party at Beth Israel Synagogue. This end of the year celebration consisted of a mock B’nai Mitzvah for our current presidents, where Queen’s students, alumni and other out of town guests got to relive their youth, but this time minus the awkwardness of adolescence. This carnival themed spectacle offered more than what was even imaginable for our 240 guests. The event consisted of food, dancing, a photo booth, bar and bat mitzvah photos of attendees and the best hora Kingston has ever seen! Our dedicated social committee had been working on this event since September in order to ensure an incredible night for the entire Queen’s community. By creating such a fun and accessible event with Jewish themes, we were able to engage a much broader audience than we would typically. Our goal was to bring the whole Jewish community together and share in a fun and “hamish” experience. It truly was a great way to celebrate the unity and spirit of the Queen’s Jewish community. The cake pops, cotton candy and clowns made for a memorable night at the carnival, and we look forward to hosting this event again next year as Queen’s Bar Mitzvah Bash continues to be one of the ultimate Jewish student parties in Ontario.
