Find out about three alumni of the University of Toronto and the difference they are making in bringing the dream of the Wolfond Centre for Jewish Campus Life alive.

Jessica Pelt
A CHAT graduate, I attended the University of Toronto (third generation) from where I graduated with a BA and subsequently studied Human Resources. During my university studies, I was actively involved in Jewish student life which included serving as Editor of Images newspaper for Jewish students across Toronto and participating in the initiation of the "On-Campus" page in the Canadian Jewish News. Following my formal education, I pursued a career in Human Resources and have recently established an HR consulting company. My current community efforts include participation in the New College Alumni Association's Mentorship Program and active involvement with the Anshei Minsk Synagogue. I'm excited to be involved with the Wolfond Centre, the Israel Advocacy initiatives being taken and being able to contribute to the continuity of Jewish life at U of T.

Dr. Howard Price - 7T2
I was born in Toronto and graduated from U. of T.'s Faculty of Medicine in 1972. I then went on to do training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology in Toronto prior to doing a fellowship in Gastroenterology in London, England. I have been practising Gastroenterology in Toronto since then.
In terms of community involvement, I have been co-chair of Physicians' Division, Professions' Cabinet, and Vice-Chair of the annual UJA campaign. Currently, as well as being on the Board of Jewish Campus Services, now Hillel. I am also President of Ve'ahavta, co-chair of Maimonides' Society of UJA Federation, and a member of Federation's Action Committee for Jewish Continuity.

I am married to Leah, a lawyer at Fogler Rubinoff, and have two children, Shoshana and Josh, both currently university students. I am a member of Shaarei Shomayim Synagogue.

I am very pleased to be involved in fundraisng for the Wolfond Centre since I feel that there is a strong need for such a facility for Jewish students at U of T, especially in today's world of increasing anti-Semitism and anti-Israel feelings.

Zack Fuerstenberg - 9T2

I am currently the Director of Emerging Channels at Visa Canada and I serve as an advisor to a number of early-stage IT companies at the University of Toronto's Innovations Foundation Exceler@tor. Prior to that, I was the Vice President of Product Development and a founding partner of CertaPay Inc., an online money transfer service which was acquired by Canada’s five major banks. Before conceiving of CertaPay, I worked at TD CanadaTrust where I launched a number of the Bank's award-winning online banking services. After graduating from UofT with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1992, I went on to complete a political science degree from York University and an MSc. from the London School of Economics.

I am delighted to be involved in the campaign for the Wolfond Centre. I have many fond memories of my years at the University of Toronto and much of that revolved around the former JSU building on Spadina. In these uncertain times, I believe that a state-of-the-art facility like the Wolfond Centre will drastically improve the quality of Jewish life at the center of one of Canada's most important campuses.
